Marvellous Motifs

Marvellous Motifs by Sharon Briggs is a collection of 19 motifs that can be used alone or joined together for larger projects. There are several hearts, like the Twin Hearts which are perfect for wedding and anniversary cards, some square motifs that can be used for making mats or shawls or just simple bookmarks and some 6 sided motifs can be used as snowflakes or joined to make doilies. Some of the designs are based around roses and some around daisies. A number of them are ideal as decorations for gift boxes or bags. Two of the designs were created so that they could be used together to make a larger project, either something small like a pin cushion or a larger item like a doily. Most of these designs are quite dense rather than open and lacy so that they will work well in projects like shawls.
All of the designs are in visual format with accompanying written instructions and include indications of level of difficulty and techniques used.
The price in Canadian funds including shipping:

Canada $20
USA $21
International $23

There isn't currently a web site available for the book but it can be ordered through PayPal

Anyone who would like to pre-order the new Celtic Tatted Leaves and Flowers book and CD to be picked up at Hector tat days may do so by sending the payment of $11 to my paypal account, which is the same as my email address. There will be no cost for shipping as I will bring enough with me to fill these pre orders, and a few more.

The book will be available by mail sometime after I get home from Hector Tat Days at the cost of $11 plus shipping. I'm not sure how much the shipping cost will be just yet.

The patterns included in the book or on the CD that will come with the book are for a variety of leaves including the Celtic Maple Leaves, Daffodil Leaf, elm leaf, and a heart shaped leaf; and the Celtic Flowers including the Iris, Daffodil, Lily, and Poinsettia. On the CD are the PDF files for all of the patterns. PDF files allow you to zoom in on the photos and drawings to see them in greater detail, and preview pages, jump to the page you wish to view, and other neat things.

A lot of people have asked for these patterns.

New!! Tea is for Tatting

This is a book of teapots in various shapes, sizes, and techniques. Full size motifs include Maltese Ring, Antique Rose, Shamrock, Country Garden, and Celtic. There are also four miniature motifs that work up quickly, which are good for card enclosures and small accents. For something really different, there is a three dimensional tea set in block tatting, which includes teapot with lid, creamer, sugar bowl, cup, and saucer. Two of the large motifs also have accompanying creamer, sugar bowl, and cup patterns.

Skill level is intermediate and advanced. Patterns are presented in both written form and diagram, except for block tatting patterns, which are text only. The three dimensional tea set has several work-in-progress photos.

This is a full size comb bound booklet (8 1/2 x 11 inches) with 36 pages plus covers.

Autographed on request.

The price is $20.00 USD plus shipping.

Holidays on the Block

This sequel to New Critters on the Block uses the block tatting technique to make small motifs with a holiday and seasonal theme. They make up quickly and are excellent for clothing appliqués, card enclosures, etc.

There are 24 patterns in all: hat, mitten, Valentine heart (with five variations), leprechaun, shamrock, umbrella, daffodil, Easter bunny, ice cream cone, flip-flops, American eagle, patriotic ribbon, maple leaf, pumpkin, bat, skeleton, candy corn, two turkeys, two Santas, two angels, and Christmas stocking.

I would call this an intermediate level book. There are no split chains, and only one small split ring, but there are a variety of other techniques used, such as folded rings, long beaded picot, and lock stitch chain. There is a chart describing different block tatting methods.

The book is digest size, 8 ½ x 5 ½ inches, and has 32 pages plus cover.

Autographed on request. Email me for that!

The cost is $10.00 per copy plus shipping.

Please see my website for ordering information.

Also available from Handy Hands.

New Critters on the Block

By Martha Ess

This is my book of original patterns that use the block tatting technique to make small whimsical animals. They make up quickly and are excellent for clothing appliqués (especially for children), refrigerator magnets, pins, earrings, you name it.

There are 23 patterns in all: flamingo, cat, rabbit, brontosaurus, lion, hedgehog, bee, octopus, tiger, stegosaurus, swan, penguin, puppy, dragon, fish, squirrel, songbird, teddybear, frog, goose, bird of paradise, mouse, and a hat. In size 10 thread, the frog measures approximately 1 5/8 x 1 ½ inches, and the stegosaurus 1 1/8 x 2 1/4 inches.

Patterns are written only, but include clear pictures of the motifs. (Sorry, I find block tatting diagrams of these pieces just too dense and crowded to be really useful.)

Patterns are advanced beginner/early intermediate level. There are no split rings or split chains.

The book is digest size, 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches, and has 28 pages plus cover.

Autographed on request.

The cost is $10.00 per copy plus shipping

Tatting Patterns For One Shuttle, Book 1, by Mark Myers

GET YOUR COPY TODAY! !

tatwith1shuttlecover

You can order via paypal. Go to paypal
and use tatman at tat-man dot net for the transaction.

If you want to order this book using a different payment method other than paypal, EMAIL ME and state how many copies you want. All copies will be autographed especially for you.

I created this 25 page book out of a need that I saw from my beginner students. They were always requesting patterns that required only one shuttle work and how-to instructions that are clear and concise. So I have put together a collection of 17 patterns that use only one shuttle. It also includes detailed instructions with lots of close up pictures for every step. A must have book for the beginner or the well versed tatter that likes fresh new ideas.

The book has 25 pages of full color on 32 lb stock paper, comb bound, 8.5x11 size.

It costs $15 plus S&H of $2.55 First Class US postage, or $1.59 book rate(4-6 weeks). If you prefer a different shipping method or it is an international order, please contact me. Please allow at the most two weeks to fill your order and time for shipping.

One of the main features in the book is the half closed ring. By using the ring and half closed ring, many intricate designs can be made that are simple in structure. The half closed ring is used both as a decorative element or as a bridge between two rings, similar to a chain.

Authors entering their book information

Once you have responded to the invitation you are able to post whatever information you want to share about your book or books. As a suggestion you'll probably want to include:
Your Name
Your Book Name in the Title of the post (if you have several books each one should be in a separate post.) Subject, for example Snowflakes Those 3 things can be made Labels which make the blog easier to search.
The country of origin as this will tell people what kind of shipping charges to expect.
Then you will want to include any information you think is pertinent, for example you may want to let them know the size of the book, the number of patterns, how it's bound, or if it is electronic.
The price of the book.
Where to buy the book.
Add some pictures of the cover or anything you'd like to highlight that is inside the book.
This blog wasn't set up so that the books could be sold from here, but if anyone has a book who doesn't have a web page or blog, they could sell it from here just by using a PayPal invoice.
I used my own book as an example below.

Tatted Crosses

Books Books and more Books

Here is a place to post information about tatting books that have been written and to find tatting books. It's just a little corner of the world for tatting authors to showcase books they have written. A spot to show you the book and maybe give you a peek inside the front cover. The books aren't available here, but they will link you to the author's site where you can buy the books. They may be print books or electronic books, but they are all tatting books. So come on in and take a look around, you may find something you didn't know was available.
