New Critters on the Block
By Martha Ess
This is my book of original patterns that use the block tatting technique to make small whimsical animals. They make up quickly and are excellent for clothing appliqués (especially for children), refrigerator magnets, pins, earrings, you name it.
There are 23 patterns in all: flamingo, cat, rabbit, brontosaurus, lion, hedgehog, bee, octopus, tiger, stegosaurus, swan, penguin, puppy, dragon, fish, squirrel, songbird, teddybear, frog, goose, bird of paradise, mouse, and a hat. In size 10 thread, the frog measures approximately 1 5/8 x 1 ½ inches, and the stegosaurus 1 1/8 x 2 1/4 inches.
Patterns are written only, but include clear pictures of the motifs. (Sorry, I find block tatting diagrams of these pieces just too dense and crowded to be really useful.)
Patterns are advanced beginner/early intermediate level. There are no split rings or split chains.
The book is digest size, 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches, and has 28 pages plus cover.
Autographed on request.
The cost is $10.00 per copy plus shipping
